The program leading to a Diploma in Construction Technology
is 90 ECTS, taught through distance education. The requirements for the Diploma
in Construction Technology reflect requirements for the professional title of
Technical Certificate as accredited by the Ministry of Industry of Iceland.

The program is practice-oriented, rooted in the construction industry and civil engineering. Emphasis is placed on practical project work and application of computer design tools. Working with design software such as AutoCAD and Revit / BIM.

• Prepare tender documents and bids for construction projects and project plans, schedules and estimated costs.
• Develop the size and design of simple structural elements and building blocks.
• Develop the size, type and location of water systems, heating and other simple wastewater services.
• Conduct regular topography measurements, and settle on the site for buildings and common land.
• Use the basics of soil mechanics to develop geotechnical solutions for building foundations and smaller facilities.
• Make accounting for small businesses, both by hand and using the appropriate software.
• Perform calculations related to administration, wages, taxes, cash flow, indexing and bonds for small businesses.
• Apply knowledge of safety rules and procedures, administration and management of production processes and industrial companies.
